Game Preview: Lady Eagles Open Home Slate Friday vs. Champion Christian

Game Preview:
The Lady Eagles basketball team opens their home campaign this Friday evening in The Nest, tipping off against the Champion Christian College Tigers at 5:30 PM.

After a hard-fought road loss to a talented Oakwood University squad, the Lady Eagles will look to defend home court against a familiar NCCAA opponent, Champion Christian. The Tigers are a team the Lady Eagles have faced four times in recent seasons, earning one victory, a statement win last December. In last year's national tournament, Champion finished just one spot ahead of the Lady Eagles, setting the stage for a revenge matchup that promises plenty of energy on Friday night.

This year's Lady Eagles roster features a new look following several key graduations. Sophomore standout Sky Boyd, an NCCAA All-American and last year's National Player of the Year runner-up, returns to lead the charge after a breakout freshman campaign. She's joined by Amy Ahrens, who averaged five rebounds per game and shot 53% from the field last season. Newcomers Brooklyn Bosher, Autumn Boutwell, and Micah Coalson have quickly stepped into significant roles and are already making their presence felt early in the year.

In their opener against Oakwood, the Lady Eagles battled through a scrappy, high-energy contest, with Oakwood generating 14 points off turnovers and another 10 from second-chance and fast-break opportunities. PCC responded with relentless pace, putting up 100 shots from the field. Bosher led the charge with 27 points, including 15 from beyond the arc, while adding six rebounds and three steals. Boyd contributed a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double along with two blocks and three assists, and Boutwell chipped in 12 points while going a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.

The Lady Eagles will look to channel that intensity into Friday's Pensacola Invitational as they return to The Nest for their first home matchup of the 2025–26 season. Come out and pack the stands to cheer on your Lady Eagles as they look to claim their first win of the year.
