Lady Eagles Battle Past North Central to Cap Off 25-Win Season

Game Recap:
After a tough loss to the national tournament hosts Crown College on Friday night, the Lady Eagles matched up with North Central University for their final game of the season. After losing their meeting at the 2025 National Tournament to the Lady Rams, the Lady Eagles had to forget the loss and lock in on North Central. After a hot start, the Lady Eagles built an early lead and never trailed in the second half. Despite North Central making a strong push late in the game, the Lady Eagles held on and won their 25th game of the season with a 78-72 victory.

To open the game, the Lady Eagles came out swinging with a three-pointer from Maddie Fowler, a jumper by Moilan, and a few early buckets from Boyd. The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early 11-4 lead midway through the first quarter. As the quarter continued, the Lady Eagles led 13-8, but to close out the quarter they hit three straight triples, two by Bosher and one from Moilan, sending the Lady Eagles into the quarter break with a 22-8 lead.

North Central opened the second quarter with four straight free throws, but a jumper by Boyd and a later bucket by Ahrens helped the Lady Eagles maintain a 26-12 lead with 6:45 left in the second. The remainder of the quarter was not the best stretch for the Lady Eagles, as they committed nine turnovers and gave North Central nine opportunities at the free throw line. By the end of the quarter, the Lady Eagles still held the lead but had been outscored by 13 points, and the score stood at 32-31 going into halftime.

To open the third quarter, the teams went through a three-minute stretch trading buckets and staying within striking distance of each other. After back-to-back baskets by Bosher and Boyd, the Lady Eagles regained a four-point lead. Later in the quarter, Bosher converted a tough and-one that fueled her dominant 13-point third quarter and gave the Lady Eagles a narrow 55-52 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

North Central opened the fourth quarter with two three-pointers to take the lead and held it until midway through the period. Throughout the early part of the quarter, Bosher and Boyd were the only scorers for the Lady Eagles, keeping the game within reach. After Boyd scored another layup, the Lady Eagles briefly regained the lead but quickly lost it again, with NCU holding the advantage until the two-minute mark. Bosher and Boyd continued to lead the scoring charge down the stretch. After the Lady Eagles regained a two-point lead, freshman Micah Coalson was sent to the free throw line with less than thirty seconds remaining. Coalson knocked down both free throws, and Boyd followed by going 2-2 from the line to secure the 78-72 victory for the Lady Eagles.

Leading the Lady Eagles tonight was the first team All-American duo of Bosher and Boyd, who combined for 51 points. Bosher finished with 28 points while adding 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. In the final game of her junior season, Boyd scored 23 points and pulled in 9 rebounds. Rounding out the double-digit scorers, Reagan Moilan recorded 10 points while grabbing 2 rebounds.
