Eligibility Requirements
In the NCCAA, student-athletes are allowed four seasons of competition within the first ten semesters of college. A season of competition has been completed when an athlete participates in twenty percent of the maximum number of games allowed in a season (twenty percent of maximum playing dates for volleyball). These dates include varsity and junior varsity games or scrimmages.
To ensure that the student-athletes are progressing through their college careers, they must meet continuing eligibility rules:
- Must be enrolled in twelve credit hours each semester
- First-semester freshmen must pass nine credits in their first semester to be eligible for their second semester.
- Must accumulate twenty-four credit hours during the two immediately previous semesters
- Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA
- Must have earned the following credits by each season of participation:
- Second year—24 hours
- Third year—48 hours
- Fourth year—72 hours
Transfer students eligibility—Transfer students from two- and four-year institutions must have an official release. Since transfer rules are complex, reach out to the athletic director to receive more details.
Graduate students eligibility—Students enrolled as a full-time graduate student as per criteria set by the institution have one year of eligibility if they have not completed ten terms of college.
Insurance Requirements
Prior to participation in any intercollegiate sport, all Eagles athletes are required to have primary health insurance that covers athletic injuries. All international student-athletes, as per school requirements, must also have primary health insurance that meets PCC standards and that includes athletic coverage. Health sharing networks (Christian Home Health, Medi-Share, Samaritan Ministries, etc.) do not meet PCC's health insurance requirements.
