Eagles Draw Third Consecutive Match

Match Recap:
After consecutive draws against NAIA opponents Warner University and Columbia International University, the Eagles returned home Friday night to face the NCAA Division III Millsaps College Majors. Both teams created promising scoring opportunities throughout the 90-minute battle, but strong defensive performances and goalkeeping kept the match scoreless.

Junior Jackson Clarke recorded the first attempt just 30 seconds into the match, firing a shot from distance. Less than five minutes later, speedy transfer Graysen Crawford delivered a cross into the box that Clarke headed wide. Clarke threatened again in the 10th minute with a free kick from 30 yards out, but a diving save by the Millsaps goalkeeper prevented the shot from finding the bottom corner.

The Eagles continued applying pressure as the half progressed. Vieira Siqueira attempted to catch the goalkeeper out of position with a long-range effort, while defender Sam Vannet joined the attack with a header off a Romero cross. Nicholas Clark, Kayden Tucker and Devin Woods also contributed attempts as the Eagles finished the opening half with 10 shots and forced five saves.

The biggest play of the half came in the 26th minute. Millsaps created a one-on-one opportunity on the counterattack, but goalkeeper Nathaniel Hixson stood his ground and produced a critical save to preserve the scoreless tie.

The Eagles remained aggressive after halftime but were unable to recreate the sustained pressure they generated during the opening period. Heat and humidity became increasingly influential as the match continued, despite minimal cramping and no hydration breaks. Millsaps showcased its depth with 10 first-half substitutions and 16 in the second half. The teams continued trading shots and counterattacks, but neither could break through. After 90 hard-fought minutes, the Eagles and Majors finished in a 0-0 draw.

What's Next:
The Eagles travel to Talladega, Alabama, next Thursday to face the Talladega College Tornadoes. The Eagles hold a 2-4-1 record in the series and will look to defeat Talladega for the first time since 2021 while continuing their pursuit of their first victory of the season.
