2025 Lady Eagles Volleyball: Legacy Strong, Future Bright

The 2025 season ushers in a new era of Lady Eagles Volleyball, as Head Coach Ryan Vanderboegh takes the helm for his first season of collegiate coaching. A former PCC basketball standout from 2004–2008, Vanderboegh brings a wealth of leadership and competitiveness to the program. He will be joined on the sidelines by Assistant Coach Kenzie Folker, a four-year Lady Eagle who returns to her alma mater to help guide the next generation of Eagles. With a blend of new leadership, veteran returners, and fresh talent, the Lady Eagles are poised for another exciting season on the court.

Last season's Lady Eagles made history, breaking over 19 team and individual records while advancing to the National Tournament. Their remarkable run came to an emotional close in a one-set, winner-take-all match for a berth in the Final Four. That heartbreak, however, has only fueled this year's squad, who return determined to take the next step and reclaim their place among the nation's best.

The offense will be powered by sophomore Sydney Anderson, who delivered a record-breaking freshman campaign. Anderson set four all-time program records with her dominance at the net in both kills and blocks, while earning First Team All-American honors. She will be joined by Lyssie Metzker, a First Team All-Region selection, who finished second on the team in kills last season, fourth in service aces, and third in digs—a true all-around player who will be key to the Lady Eagles' balanced attack. Olivia Boyd also returns as a key contributor; despite starting in only six matches and playing 20+ fewer sets than her teammates due to an injury last September, she finished fourth on the team in kills and third in hitting percentage, demonstrating both scoring ability and efficiency that will make her a major offensive weapon in 2025.

On the defensive side, the Lady Eagles will once again be anchored by Anderson's blocking presence at the net, complemented by the relentless play of libero Hope Brooks, a Second Team All-Region honoree. Brooks led the team in both digs and service aces last season, setting the tone for the Eagles' back row. Alongside her, Allie Whiting will play a pivotal role after finishing second on the team in digs and service aces, bringing stability and energy to the floor as another true all-around player.

Joining the nine returners are four new players ready to contribute immediately: Karissa Crumly (freshman, middle hitter), Maddie Quilty (freshman, setter), Macey Johnson (sophomore, setter), and Madisyn Kandel (sophomore, outside hitter). Their arrival adds depth and versatility to a roster eager to blend experience with new firepower.

The Lady Eagles will play a 30-match schedule this fall, featuring 12 home contests and 18 road or neutral-site matchups. A key early test comes at the South Region Kickoff Tournament in Greenville, SC, hosted by Bob Jones University on September 5–6. The Eagles will face three region opponents, Bob Jones, Baptist University of Florida, and Toccoa Falls, along with a matchup against Ohio Christian University. These matches will serve as an early indicator for the Lady Eagles as they strive to establish themselves within the region.

The regular season will lead into a highlight of the fall when Pensacola Christian College hosts the 2025 NCCAA South Region Tournament on November 6–8. With the championship on their home floor, the Lady Eagles are eager to defend "The Nest" and bring another region title back to Pensacola for the first time since 2021.

With experience, new energy from a revamped coaching staff, and a balanced schedule, the Lady Eagles are ready to embrace the challenge and soar through of the 2025 season. Their mission: build on last year's historic run, defend home court, make a deeper push at the National Tournament, and "PURSUE THE GOAL"!
