2025 Eagles Soccer: Building on a Championship Legacy

After an up-and-down 2024 season that concluded with an 8-10-1 record, the PCC Eagles are looking to bounce back and return to their 14-3-5 record from 2023, when they captured both the South Region and National Championships. With a strong mix of returning talent, key newcomers, and experienced leadership, the Eagles aim to reclaim their place at the top of NCCAA men's soccer.

Entering his ninth season as head coach, with three National Coach of the Year honors, Coach Joseph Liwosz, along with assistants Matheus Canada and Clint Peterson, are focused on capturing the 4th South Region Championship and 4th National Championship in program history.

The Eagles return a core of 16 players from 2024, while adding 11 new players, including two returning from the 2023 season. The newcomers add depth across the field: four defenders, five midfielders, one forward, and one goalkeeper. Class-wise, the additions include three juniors, three sophomores, and five seniors, providing a balanced mix of experience and youth.

Despite this mix of talent, the Eagles face challenges in replacing experience. Six of last season's top 12-minute-getters are no longer on the roster, and the team graduated eight seniors, leaving gaps in leadership that returning players and newcomers will need to fill.

The Eagles' offense will be led by Jackson Clarke, a First Team All-Region selection, who topped the team last season with 8 goals, 5 assists, 25 shots on goal, and 21 points. Clarke will be joined by four-year senior forward Reid Rhodes, who aims to return to his 2023 form when he recorded 7 goals, 3 assists, 17 points, and 43 total shots. Their scoring ability and experience up front will be key to the Eagles' attack.

Defensively, the team will rely on 6'6" sophomore center back Boaz DaSilva and grad-student goalkeeper Bryce Hammond, a Second Team All-Region honoree, who posted 68 saves with a 67% save percentage last season. Their presence will be essential for stabilizing the back line and keeping the Eagles competitive in close matches.

The Eagles are scheduled for an 18-game season, including 8 home matches and 10 away or neutral-site contests. The season kicks off on the road in Texas with matches against Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU) on August 21 and Dallas Christian College (DCC) on August 23. PCC has found success on this early Texas trip before; in 2023, the Eagles went 2-0 to start the season on the same schedule and went on to win both the South Region and National Championships.

A key matchup comes on Saturday, October 18th at 7:00 PM, when the Eagles host South Region rival Bob Jones University. Following the regular season, the team will compete in the NCCAA South Region Tournament, scheduled for November 6–8 in Greenville, SC, hosted by Bob Jones University. With the Regional Championship on the line, the Eagles aim to advance to the National Tournament and reclaim their 2023 titles.
