Tournament Preview:
The Eagles men's soccer team will travel to Greenville, South Carolina, this weekend for the 2025 NCCAA DII South Region Championship Tournament. Four teams will battle for the title... Bob Jones University, Trinity College of Jacksonville, Toccoa Falls College, and your PCC Eagles. Matches begin Thursday, November 6, and conclude Saturday, November 8, with the tournament champion earning an automatic berth to the 2025 NCCAA National Championship Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida, on November 17.
The Eagles have made the South Region Championship stage their second home in recent years, appearing in the title match three seasons in a row. The last time they failed to reach the final was the last time the tournament was hosted in Greenville, a storyline they'll look to rewrite this weekend. This season, the Eagles have proven they belong among the region's elite, posting a 3-1 record in regional play. Their only loss came in a narrow 1-2 defeat to Bob Jones University on October 18 on Eagle Field.Â
This year's campaign has been defined by growth and resilience. PCC enters the postseason with an 8-5-4 record, improving their win percentage by 14% from last season. The Eagles opened the year with a strong four-match unbeaten streak, featuring victories over Southwestern Adventist, Dallas Christian, and Carolina Christian, plus a draw against NCAA DIII opponent LaGrange College. After a challenging midseason stretch against top-level competition, the Eagles bounced back with comeback wins over Brewton-Parker and Toccoa Falls, igniting a five-match unbeaten streak capped by a crucial 1-0 victory over Freed-Hardeman University. Two weeks later, the Eagles added a commanding 6-1 win against Trinity College of Jacksonville to close out their regular-season schedule and solidify their confidence entering the postseason.Â
PCC opens tournament play Thursday night at 7:00 PM against Toccoa Falls, a team they previously defeated 4-2 earlier this season. With a win, the Eagles would likely earn another showdown with host Bob Jones University, a rivalry that consistently brings out the best from both programs. The Eagles will look to channel their late-season momentum, veteran leadership, and postseason experience as they chase another South Region title and the opportunity to hang another banner in "The Nest"!
