After two and a half weeks of travel play, the Lady Eagles tipped off their first home game of 2020 against Trinity College of Florida. The Lady Eagles put on a show tonight against the Trinity College of Florida Tigers, ending the game 94-58 against their opponents.
Â
The Lady Eagles started the offensive play tonight with a three-pointer from
Lauran Alvarez. Trinity managed to find several open buckets near the basket early on, but was soon stopped at the half court line when the Lady Eagles initiated a half-court defensive press. Just five minutes into the first quarter, the Lady Eagles led 19-6 against the Tigers. The Lady Eagles finished the first quarter with an impressive 32-11 against the Tigers.
Â
The Lady Eagles continued their impressive offensive performance during the second quarter, dropping 27 more points against the Tigers. The Tigers were able to improve their offense in the second quarter, but still had a large score gap to overcome if they wanted to catch back up with the Lady Eagles. The Lady Eagles ended the first half 57-24 against the Tigers, and managed to display one of their most impressive offensive performances of the season.
Â
The third quarter was no different from the previous two for the Lady Eagles as they continued to control the game's offense. The Tigers found their offensive rhythm and managed to score 22 points in the third, however, the gap was too great to close in on the Eagles. The Lady Eagles finished the third quarter with 29 points, and extended the gap by 40 points.
Â
Although the Tigers managed to outscore the Lady Eagles in the fourth quarter (Tigers 12-Lady Eagles 8), the score difference was too great this late in the game. The Lady Eagles held their lead and finished with one of their best offensive performance of the season!
Caitlyn Benedik finished tonight with 24 points, while
Lauran Alvarez secured a triple-double: 14 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds!
