Lady Eagles Score Big Region Win

The Lady Eagles set a season high record after obtaining their largest score gap victory with a 44-point win over Johnson University of Florida on Saturday.

Johnson started well at the beginning of the first quarter, as No. 0 Megan Gracia controlled the tempo of play with her speed and ball handling. Within the first five minutes, Johnson scored several quick buckets and was up 9-4. The Lady Eagles quickly turned things around with a 12-0 scoring run in the following three minutes. The Lady Eagles' offensive success did not stop there as they pushed on to score 44 points in the first half and headed into the locker rooms with the lead over Johnson 44-22. Prior to halftime, the Suns lost one of their key players with less than two minutes in the second quarter when Garcia, who had scored 8 of her team's 18 points, reached her foul limit with a technical foul.

No. 2 Sandy McElhaney led the charge for the Lady Eagles out of halftime with a quick 7 points within the first three minutes of the third quarter. With a big lead, Coach Sellars found success in using his substitutions, as the team had 32 points from the bench. In the end, the Lady Eagles' offensive success and double-doubles from Sandy McElhaney and No. 5 Lauran Alvarez, lead them to an 88-44 victory over Johnson as they remain undefeated in conference play.
