Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Eagles Unable to Overcome Slow Third Quarter

The Lady Eagles took the floor tonight against a very talented Faulkner University team. This was a rematch of the team's first game of the season.  From the start, you could tell our Lady Eagles had come to play and compete.  Going into the half the game was tied 29-29.  The third quarter was where the pace of the game changed. Faulkner came out shooting well and our Lady Eagles were cold from outside the arch. The Lady Eagles were outscored 20-9 in the third quarter, which created some distance for Faulkner.  The Lady Eagles fought hard in the fourth but the deficit was too much to overcome, resulting in a 52-59 loss for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles were led by Lauran Alvarez with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Hope Baker played some valuable minutes contributing 5 points and 2 assists.  Overall a great team effort on the defensive end.

Coach Jared Sellars had this to say after the game, "I am really proud of the effort of our team. We competed for 40 minutes and gave ourselves a chance.  Our defensive effort was there all night. We didn't play perfect but we played hard every play. I am excited about the way this team plays, the energy on the bench, and their desire to compete. There are some good things coming from this team.  We will take a little break for Thanksgiving and then come back ready for next Tuesday night."
