Lady Eagles' Offense Struggles in New Orleans

The Lady Eagles took the court for the first time against an NCAA D1 opponent, University of New Orleans. This was a great experience and opportunity for the Lady Eagles to play at the highest level.  The story of the day was the defensive effort of the Privateers. The Privateers forced the Lady Eagles into 33 turnovers and had 21 steals.

To make matters worse, the Lady Eagles had an unusually poor shooting performance. The team shot just 19% from the field, 16% from three, and 33% from the FT line.  It was a tough game for our Lady Eagles to have the worst shooting performance in recent memory.

The bright spot of the game was the team's half court defensive effort. The Lady Eagles were able to limit good clean looks in the half court sets and executed that part of the game very well.
Head Coach Jared Sellars had this to say after the game, "It was a great opportunity to play against a team at this level, we just chose the wrong game to have a poor shooting night.  I was very pleased with our half-court defense, we just allowed too many transition opportunities because of our turnovers against their press.  I have to do a better job of having us prepared, mainly getting our shooters better looks and at the execution of our press break against teams of this caliber."

Head Coach Jared Sellars concluded with his thoughts on our next opponent, "Our schedule so far has been very difficult, and this Friday that will continue against UWF. Although this opponent will test our young team, we will get better because of it.  This team has a very competitive mindset and we are looking forward to getting back to work to tweak some things for this coming weekend."
