Boyd Reaches 1,000 Career Points as Lady Eagles Defeat Warren Wilson

Game Recap:
After a strong second-half performance against Clinton College on Thursday, the Lady Eagles carried that momentum into Saturday's matchup with Warren Wilson College. Following a dominant first half, the Lady Eagles endured a slower start out of the locker room but stayed composed down the stretch to secure their 10th win of the season with a 74-60 victory over the Owls.

The Lady Eagles opened the game on fire, as Brooklyn Bosher knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to ignite the offense. Buckets from Sky Boyd and Amy Ahrens followed, and within the first four minutes, the Lady Eagles had raced out to an 11-0 lead. Warren Wilson gradually chipped away at the deficit, but a fastbreak layup by freshman Micah Coalson, assisted by Autumn Boutwell, helped PCC maintain control. The Lady Eagles closed the opening quarter with a 20-12 advantage.

Momentum carried into the second quarter when Abby Matney drilled a three-pointer to spark another 11-0 run. Freshman Autumn Boutwell fueled the surge, knocking down two three-pointers of her own. After the Owls briefly halted the run with their first basket of the quarter, Boutwell answered with another three, pushing the Lady Eagles' lead to 20. Boutwell capped the half with her fourth three-pointer of the quarter, sending PCC into halftime with a 41-24 lead. The freshman accounted for 12 of the Lady Eagles' 21 second-quarter points.

Despite the strong first half, the third quarter proved challenging. The Lady Eagles committed 12 turnovers and managed just five made field goals, allowing Warren Wilson to outscore them 20-15 in the frame. Still, PCC entered the final quarter holding a 57-44 lead. The highlight of the quarter came with just over three minutes remaining, when junior Sky Boyd buried a pull-up jumper to score her 1,000th career point. Reaching the milestone in just over two and a half seasons, Boyd continues to cement herself as one of the premier scorers in the country and a cornerstone of the Lady Eagles program.

Early in the fourth quarter, Warren Wilson trimmed the deficit to ten, but another Boutwell three restored momentum for the Lady Eagles. As both teams struggled offensively in the closing minutes, PCC remained steady. Key fourth-quarter contributions from Matney, Boutwell, Ahrens, and Boyd allowed the Lady Eagles to maintain control and close out the 74-60 victory.

Sky Boyd led all scorers with 25 points, tying her season high while shooting an efficient 11-19 from the field. She also grabbed 12 rebounds to record her seventh double-double of the season. Freshman Autumn Boutwell followed with 17 points, connecting on 5-10 attempts from beyond the arc for her second-highest scoring output of the year. Bosher rounded out the double-figure scorers with 16 points and 10 rebounds, securing her second double-double of the season.
