Lady Eagles Dominate in Sixth 3-Set Sweep of the Season

Game Recap:
After re-entering the win column on Saturday against Coastal Alabama, the Lady Eagles returned home for their first match in "The Nest" since August 23. Coming off two losses in their last three outings, the team was focused and determined to start a new win streak in their 11th match of the season. Facing United States Sports University, who entered at 0-6, the Lady Eagles wasted no time, dominating from the opening whistle and cruising to their sixth sweep of the 2025 campaign.

The tone was set early in set one, as the Lady Eagles stormed out to a 12-2 lead with kills from Sydney Anderson, Madisyn Kandel, Anna Stephens, and Allie Whiting. They never let up, closing on a 13-4 run behind two more kills from Anderson and additional scores from Kandel and Evie Ruryk, sealing a commanding 25-9 win.

USSU battled more tightly in set two, trailing just 6-8 through the opening 14 points. But the Lady Eagles quickly locked in, exploding on a 13-2 run. Sophomore Sydney Anderson powered the surge with three kills, while Olivia Boyd, Kandel, Stephens, Maddie Quilty, and Michaila Kinney each chipped in a point. Once again, the Eagles pulled away for a decisive 25-12 victory.

The third set saw the Lady Eagles tested again, as USSU grabbed a 7-5 lead. But a service error opened the door, and the Eagles slammed it shut with a 15-3 run. Anderson and Kandel each tallied two kills during the stretch, joined by points from Boyd and Stephens, while Lyssie Metzker and Macey Johnson added service aces. The 25-14 finish to the third set capped off the sweep in front of the home crowd.

It was a balanced effort across the roster, with 10 different players recording a kill—including the first career kills for freshmen Karissa Crumly and Maddie Quilty. The Lady Eagles also posted season-best efficiency, hitting .305 with a season-low 6 attacking errors. With the win, the Eagles improve to 7-4 overall with six 3-set sweeps, continuing their dominance in straight-set victories.

What's Next:
The Lady Eagles return to "The Nest" on Saturday for a tri-match, hosting Freed-Hardeman (the first meeting in program history) and Clinton College (the fourth all-time matchup).
