Eagles Battle to 1-1 Draw in Home Opener Against LaGrange

Game Recap:
The Eagles returned to Eagle Field for their 2025 home opener, squaring off against the LaGrange College Panthers in a physical battle that ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Panthers struck first, capitalizing on a turnover and a series of deflections inside the Eagles' defensive third to score in the opening five minutes. From that point forward, the Eagles began to settle in and create chances of their own. A first-half free kick from Jackson Clarke was blocked by the Panthers' defensive wall, and late in the half, back-to-back attempts from Jameson Bryant and Clarke nearly found the equalizer as momentum started to swing in favor of the home side.

That momentum carried into the second half, where the Eagles fired off three quick shots immediately after the restart, forcing multiple saves from the LaGrange keeper. The physicality of the match ramped up as well, with 32 fouls and four yellow cards issued across 90 minutes.

The Eagles' relentless attack finally paid off in the 70th minute when sustained pressure led to a Panthers handball inside the box. Senior transfer Odanci Ndayisaba calmly buried the penalty, scoring his second goal from the spot this season and leveling the match at 1-1.

In the closing 20 minutes, the Eagles continued to push forward with several more attempts on goal, but the Panthers held firm. When the final whistle blew, both teams were left with their first draw of the 2025 season.

The Eagles now hold a 4-3-2 all-time record against LaGrange College, and a season record of 2-0-1.

What's Next:
Tuesday night, the Eagles will host Carolina Christian College for the first matchup in program history. Although the Eagles tied with LaGrange College, the team still holds an undefeated 2025 season, and hope to keep it that way on Tuesday night!
