A Season to Remember: Lady Eagles Dominate with 25 Wins

Regular Season Recap:
The PCC Lady Eagles have wrapped up yet another historic season, finishing with an impressive 25-5 record. When reflecting on the season, Coach Sellars said, "Coming off a 26-4 season in 2023–24, expectations around our program were mixed. We had just graduated nine experienced players, leaving us with a roster that, on paper, looked extremely young. Only four players returned with meaningful game experience, and most people around us anticipated a rebuilding year. But thankfully, our players never bought into the idea of a rebuild—they embraced the challenge and leaned into the opportunity." Throughout the season, despite their "anticipated rebuild", the Lady Eagles had another successful season in which they dominated conference play with a perfect 10-0 record and made school history by going undefeated (11-0) at home for the first time in program history!

A defining stretch of the season came during their incredible 18-game winning streak, which lasted from November 23 through March 13, setting a new school record for consecutive victories. Their relentless pursuit of excellence earned them their third consecutive NCCAA South Region Championship and their ninth title in the past 12 seasons. Sellars added, "This marked my 25th year in coaching and my 14th season here at Pensacola Christian College. I can honestly say I don't recall another year where we lost so much from the previous roster and yet saw such tremendous growth and success in the very next season. What stood out most wasn't just the wins—it was the character and culture this team carried. These players held themselves and each other to a high standard of excellence. They pursued greatness not for the spotlight, but to glorify God through their effort, attitude, and testimony."

Post Season Recap:
Entering the South Region Tournament as the #1 seed and undefeated in conference play, the Lady Eagles set their sights on maintaining their flawless record and securing a spot in the National Tournament for the 12th consecutive year. Following a dominant win over Trinity Baptist College, they extended their conference record to 9-0, with just one more victory standing between them and the 2025 National Tournament.

Despite their final regional matchup being the lowest-scoring win of the season, the Lady Eagles clinched their ninth South Region title in the past 12 years—an achievement that punched their ticket to Minneapolis, MN, for the NCCAA National Tournament.

In the national quarterfinals, the team battled past Arlington Baptist in a tightly contested game, showcasing their grit and composure under pressure. However, their National Championship hopes were lost with a hard-fought 11-point semifinal loss to Simmons College of Kentucky. Facing host school North Central University in the third-place game, the Lady Eagles came up short in the last game of the season, concluding their season just outside the podium.

While the season didn't end with a championship trophy, it was nonetheless a remarkable journey. The Lady Eagles finished with a perfect home record, extended a record-breaking win streak, and continued national prominence, further solidifying their stance as one of the top programs in the NCCAA.

Coach Sellars reflected on the season with pride: "A special congratulations as well to the players who earned individual honors at the regional and national levels—you represented us with excellence and humility. It was a special year in every sense, and I'm truly grateful to have coached this group. Seasons like this are a reminder of why we do what we do—and how God can use even a 'rebuilding year' to write a story that's far greater than we could've imagined."

Looking Ahead:
As they look ahead to next season, the PCC Lady Eagles will aim to build on this year's success and continue their tradition of excellence on the court. Congratulations to the team, coaches, and supporters on another outstanding season!

Coach Sellars ended the season with this: "I'm incredibly proud of this team—not only for the results on the court, but for the love, support, and unity they showed one another every step of the way. They've helped raise the bar for what it means to be part of this program and have laid a strong foundation for the teams that follow. The standard they've set—through their work ethic, attitude, and commitment to one another—will continue to echo in this program for years to come."
