Lady Eagles are Heading to the Championship

Game Recap:
After closing out the regular season with a dominant 15-game winning streak and a perfect region record, the Lady Eagles took on Trinity Baptist College in the South Region semifinal. Having already defeated TBC twice in the regular season, this neutral-site showdown followed a familiar script. A strong first quarter set the tone, and despite a push from TBC, the Lady Eagles once again emerged victorious with a 74-59 win.

Right from the opening possession, Sky Boyd drained a pull-up jumper, sparking a 12-3 run that lasted nearly six minutes. The Lady Eagles controlled the first quarter, outscoring TBC 23-11, thanks to contributions from six different scorers, including key bench points from Gracee Bieber and Amy Ahrens. In the second quarter, the Lady Eagles edged out TBC by just four points, but a buzzer-beating jumper from Kristin Mentzer sent them into halftime with a comfortable 44-28 lead.

The third quarter, however, proved to be the toughest stretch of the game. The Lady Eagles managed only six points—their lowest-scoring quarter of the season—while committing seven turnovers, bringing their game total to 14. Their once 18-point advantage shrank to just five as they entered the final quarter. But with their eyes on the championship, the Lady Eagles responded in emphatic fashion. A 16-1 run to start the fourth quarter propelled them to their largest lead of the night—23 points with just four minutes left. Though Trinity attempted a late rally, the Lady Eagles maintained their grip on the game, securing their spot in the final with the 74-59 victory.

Leading the charge was South Region Player of the Year Sky Boyd, who delivered 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Close behind was freshman standout Abigail Winslow, contributing 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Rounding out the double-digit scorers, Amy Ahrens added 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in just 20 minutes of play.
