Lady Eagles Secures 12th Consecutive Victory

Game Recap: 
After a big win last night against Toccoa Falls, the Lady Eagles were looking to secure a second consecutive victory in their back-to-back games. They also aimed to defend their home court. This was the first time LB Wallace Community College had faced the Lady Eagles this season. The Lady Eagles came out strong and led 38-25 at halftime, eventually finishing the game with a 78-59 win.

The game began with LB Wallace hitting a free throw, but the Lady Eagles quickly responded with an 11-0 run, capped off by Sky Boyd. LB Wallace slowly fought back, narrowing the gap to just five points at 16-11. Abby Matney then sparked the offense for the Lady Eagles with a fast-break layup. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Eagles led 22-13. In the second quarter, Mellany Bowser scored the first bucket for the Lady Eagles to start the period. LB Wallace went on a run, cutting the Lady Eagles' lead to just three points at 25-28. However, the Lady Eagles answered with a 10-0 run, highlighted by a key three-pointer from Abigail Winslow. At halftime, the Lady Eagles held a comfortable 38-25 lead, with Sky Boyd leading the team in scoring with 13 points.

After the break, Rachel Phelps opened the second half with a three-pointer for the Lady Eagles. LB Wallace fought back, trimming the lead to just nine points. Mellany Bowser responded with a crucial three-pointer to extend the lead. To close out the third quarter, Gracee Bieber added a quick layup, leaving the Lady Eagles ahead 57-44. The fourth quarter started with another quick layup by Gracee Bieber for the Lady Eagles. The team then went on a 10-0 run, capped off by a big three-pointer from Mellany Bowser, growing the lead to 69-48. With the lead too large for LB Wallace to overcome, the Lady Eagles pulled away to a 78-59 victory.

Sky Boyd led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. Mellany Bowser, coming off the bench, followed with 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. The bench played a crucial role in the win, contributing 33 of the Lady Eagles' 78 total points.


What's Next:
The Lady Eagles' next game is on Saturday, February 15th, at home against their rival, Bob Jones University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The Lady Eagles won 76-75 in their previous game at BJU, so they'll be looking to defend their home court this time. Saturday is a white-out, so make sure to show up and be loud!
