Eagles First OT Game of the Season Results in a Loss to Toccoa Falls

Game Recap:
Having won five of their last six games, the Eagles entered a busy week with a matchup against NCCAA South Region opponent Toccoa Falls College. Following their 70-65 road victory over Toccoa in January, the Eagles aimed to sweep the season series against the Screaming Eagles. With the score tied at both halftime and the end of regulation, the game extended into overtime. However, after a hard-fought extra period, the Eagles fell short, losing 70-74.

The Eagles got off to a sluggish start, quickly falling behind 2-11 while committing three turnovers in their first five possessions. A free throw from Brandtley Koske broke up the 11-2 run, but the Eagles managed just one field goal in the opening six minutes. Following a key substitution, the bench sparked a response, as Stephen Fike, Josh Azucena, and Colin Wilkerson combined for all seven points in a 7-3 run. Despite the slow start, the Eagles closed the first half strong with a 27-16 surge. Led by Kaiden Pack's 9 points and Aaron Wagner's 8, they battled back to tie the game at 37-37 by halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Eagles wasted no time, opening with a 5-0 run. The second half remained a tightly contested battle, but after a layup from Paul Stickles, the Eagles held the lead for 18 of the 20 minutes. However, in the final four minutes, Toccoa made a late push with a 7-1 run. With under 10 seconds remaining, the Eagles had a final shot to win, but the attempt rimmed in and out, sending the game into overtime. Though the Eagles controlled much of the second half, Toccoa took charge in overtime. After an early exchange of baskets, Toccoa's 4-0 run put them ahead by three, a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Despite the Eagles' efforts in the closing moments, Toccoa held on, handing PCC their 13th loss of the season, 70-74.

Offensively, Kaiden Pack led the way with his fifth double-double of the season, posting 16 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Aaron Wagner followed closely with 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting, while Colin Wilkerson provided a strong lift off the bench with 10 points and 8 rebounds in just 19 minutes of action.

What's Next:
The Eagles have a quick turnaround, and host LB Wallace Community College tomorrow at 8:00 PM. Then Saturday is the Eagles White Out night against South Region rival Bob Jones University.
