Lady Eagles Remain Undefeated in the Region and at Home

Game Recap: 
After a strong win against Southeastern last week, the Lady Eagles aimed to complete the season sweep against Toccoa Falls. They were also looking to remain undefeated in region play. The last time these teams faced off, the Lady Eagles won at Toccoa Falls 66-60. The Lady Eagles came out strong in the first half, leading 44-27 at the break. They never looked back and won 75-57 to defeat Tocco Falls at home.

The game started with the Lady Eagles trailing 6-1. Alissa Brewer hit the first field goal for the Lady Eagles. They then went on a 7-0 run, with Amy Ahrens contributing 6 points to give the Lady Eagles a 10-8 lead. Toccoa Falls tied the game at 10-10, but the Lady Eagles responded with a 12-0 run, with Abigail Winslow scoring the final 6 points for the team. After the first quarter, the Lady Eagles led 22-11. In the second quarter, Sky Boyd opened the scoring for the Lady Eagles. They then went on a 7-0 run, capped off by a layup from Amy Ahrens, pushing the lead to 31-15. The Lady Eagles finished the half strong, with Sky Boyd adding another layup to make it 44-27 at halftime. Amy Ahrens, coming off the bench, led all scorers at the half with 15 points.

After halftime, Kristin Mentzer hit a three-pointer to open the second half for the Lady Eagles. The teams traded baskets as the quarter went on. The Lady Eagles then went on a 6-0 run, with Boyd hitting a jumper to put them up 53-34. At the end of the third quarter, Boyd hit another jumper, and the Lady Eagles led 55-43. To begin the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles erupted on a 7-0 run, with Rachel Phelps sparking the scoring for her team. This strong start helped the Lady Eagles maintain control, and they finished the game with a 75-57 victory. Rachel Phelps led the way in the final quarter, scoring 7 points to lead the Lady Eagles in fourth-quarter scoring.

Amy Ahrens, coming off the bench for the Lady Eagles, led the team in scoring with 19 points, along with 8 rebounds and 1 block. Sky Boyd also contributed 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. The bench was key to the win, contributing 33 of the Lady Eagles' 75 total points. Rounding out tonight's performers is senior Alissa Brewer with 4 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists with tonight's assists, Alissa Brewer has set the new Single Season record with 127+ assists in a single season for the Lady Eagles! 


What's Next:
The Lady Eagles' next game is tomorrow, February 11th, at home against LB Wallace Community College, with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m. The Lady Eagles are 5-0 all-time against LB Wallace Community College, and they will look to extend their winning streak. The team will also aim to keep their undefeated record on home court intact.
