Lady Eagles Capture 2025 South Region Championship

Match Recap
After a dominant performance in the South Region Semifinal last night, the Lady Eagles took their home court one final time in the 2025 season ready to chase one goal: win the banner! Entering the championship with an undefeated 11-0 record in "The Nest" and a spotless 7-0 mark in region play, the Lady Eagles faced Bob Jones University with confidence and determination. Despite dropping the opening set, PCC responded with trademark grit and relentless energy, winning the next three sets to claim a 3-1 victory and the 2025 NCCAA South Region Championship!

The opening set started slowly for the Lady Eagles, who fell behind 5-13 early. A 7-1 scoring surge trimmed the deficit to 12-14, but PCC never fully found its rhythm, hitting just .068 in the frame as Bob Jones took the set 25-23. Despite the two-point loss, the late push showed the Lady Eagles could seize control when needed.

Set two was a battle of momentum swings, with both teams trading extended runs. After leading 8-5, the Lady Eagles surrendered a 9-1 burst to trail 9-13 before both sides exchanged short rallies to a 23-18 BJU lead. From there, the Lady Eagles' resilience took over. Behind a kill and ace from Lyssie Metzker and two powerful kills from Olivia Boyd, PCC rallied to a 24-23 lead. The teams traded set points until back-to-back Bruin errors sealed a thrilling 28-26 win for the Lady Eagles, swinging all the momentum in PCC's favor.

Riding that momentum, the Lady Eagles stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the third set and soon broke away with a 5-0 run fueled by three straight kills from Boyd, Kandel, and Anderson. PCC's lead grew to 24-15 before Metzker capped the set with another kill, securing a 25-19 win and a 2-1 match advantage.

With the banner within reach, the Lady Eagles faced an early 2-5 deficit in set four but quickly found their rhythm again. Sparked by a Metzker kill, PCC went on a 9-1 run highlighted by four Metzker kills to take control at 14-8. The Bruins attempted one final push, but the Lady Eagles' relentless defense and energy carried them through, finishing the set 25-17 and clinching the championship point to erupt "The Nest" in celebration.

Offensively, Sydney Anderson and Lyssie Metzker led the way with 15 and 14 kills, respectively, while Boyd and Kandel added seven apiece. On defense, the Lady Eagles were sensational, recording a season-high 94 digs and 5 total blocks to anchor the victory.

What's Next
With the South Region banner secured, the Lady Eagles have officially punched their ticket to the 2025 NCCAA DII National Championship Tournament, hosted by Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. With one championship now hanging in "The Nest," the Lady Eagles set their sights on bringing home the ultimate prize, a National Championship banner for the first time in program history!
