Lady Eagles Advance to the Regional Championship Match

Match Recap
With the Lady Eagles' sights set on capturing their first regional banner since 2021, the only obstacle standing between them and a return to the championship match was the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles. Entering with confidence and a championship mindset, bolstered by an unbeaten record against Toccoa since 2023, the Lady Eagles overcame a slow start and went on to dominate the remainder of the night, sweeping Toccoa in three sets to advance to the South Region Championship.

The match opened with a Sydney Anderson kill that sparked early momentum for the Lady Eagles. The opening set stayed tight throughout, with neither team able to build more than a few points of separation. Down 16-20 late in the frame, the Lady Eagles responded with a commanding 9-0 run fueled by Anderson's three kills, a service ace from Olivia Boyd, and a pair of block assists shared by Anderson and Evie Ruryk. PCC's late surge sealed the set and shifted the energy squarely in their favor.

Carrying that momentum into the second set, the Lady Eagles exploded to a 14-6 lead behind four kills from Lyssie Metzker and another dominant stretch from Anderson, who added two kills and another block assist with Ruryk. Though Toccoa mounted a brief rally, the Lady Eagles held firm and closed out the set 25-18.

The Screaming Eagles came out swinging in the third, taking an early 5-1 lead before a kill by Kandel snapped the run and steadied PCC's rhythm. The Lady Eagles clawed back to tie the set 8-8, then unleashed a decisive 12-2 run highlighted by four kills and three service aces. Back-to-back kills by Crumly and Metzker capped the 25-14 win to complete the sweep and punch the Lady Eagles' ticket to the championship match.

Sydney Anderson led the way with 12 kills, 4 block assists, and 1 solo block. Metzker followed closely with an outstanding 11 kills on 21 attempts for a .476 hitting percentage. Kandel contributed 7 kills and 3 aces, while Anna Stephens added 5 kills and 2 block assists, and Ruryk recorded a new career-high, with 4 block assists! Setters Johnson and Boyd combined for 31 of the team's 36 assists in a balanced, efficient offensive effort.

What's Next
The Lady Eagles advance to face South Region rival Bob Jones University in the championship match, for the fifth consecutive season. PCC's last regional banner came in 2021, and this year's squad is determined to reclaim the title and bring the banner back home to Pensacola.
