Lady Eagles Outlast Welch in Gritty 85–81 Victory

Game Recap:
After a strong weekend showing against two NCAA Division III opponents, the Lady Eagles returned to their home court to take on a familiar foe: Welch College. Meeting for the 21st time in program history, PCC found themselves in their closest contest ever with the Lady Flames, battling wire-to-wire to secure a narrow 85–81 victory.

The opening quarter set the tone with seven lead changes, signaling a tightly contested matchup from the start. Trailing 9–12, Lydia Adams found leading scorer Brooklyn Bosher for her first triple of the night to tie the game at 12–12. Moments later, second-leading scorer Sky Boyd knocked down a mid-range jumper to reclaim the lead, 14–12. Just past the five-minute mark, junior transfer Reagan Moilan buried her first three of the game, stretching the Lady Eagles' lead to five, the largest margin of the first quarter. PCC held a slim 23–21 advantage after the opening 10 minutes.

Early in the second quarter, the two teams traded buckets and traded the lead five times in the first four minutes. Freshman Maddie Sellars knocked down the first points of her collegiate career, and a Bosher finish pushed a tie game into a four-point PCC lead. Welch responded with a quick 5–0 run late in the half, but the Lady Eagles maintained control, heading into the locker room up 42–39.

Welch opened the third quarter with back-to-back field goals to retake the lead, 43–42. The teams continued to spar with four ties and four lead changes in the first six minutes. With Welch ahead 51–50, an Abby Matney three-pointer ignited a 50-second shooting surge, as Matney, Bosher, and Autumn Boutwell each knocked down threes to give PCC a 59–53 advantage. The Flames countered with an 11–2 run to close the quarter, taking a 67–64 lead into the final frame.

The fourth quarter began with two scoreless minutes before Boyd connected on a jumper to pull PCC within one. An and-one finish from Bosher followed by another Bosher bucket assisted by Matney swung momentum back to the Lady Eagles, giving them a 71–67 lead. After a Coalson pull-up, Bosher delivered another personal 5–0 run that extended the lead to nine, PCC's largest of the night. Welch battled back to within two, 83–81, but Autumn Boutwell calmly sank two clutch free throws to seal the 85–81 win.

The Lady Eagles were powered by a standout performance from Brooklyn Bosher, who recorded her first double-double of the season with 28 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. She was supported by Boutwell and Boyd, who each added 14 points, combining to shoot 10-for-23 from the field. Reagan Moilan played a key role off the ball with timely buckets, finishing with 9 points on 3-for-7 shooting.

What's Next:
With just one game remaining before the semester break, the Lady Eagles return to The Nest on December 2 to take on Coastal Alabama–North. A win would give PCC their eighth victory of the season and extend their current win streak to six. Tipoff is set for 5:30 PM as the Lady Eagles aim to close out the semester on a high note.
