Lady Eagles Extend Win Streak With Dominant Weekend at Home

Wesleyan Recap:
After a back-to-back road win to close out last week, the Lady Eagles returned home to take home court for the first time since November 1. Opening their homestand, the Lady Eagles matched up with Wesleyan College for the 19th time in program history. With 4 wins in a row against the Wolves, the Lady Eagles continued the streak with a fifth straight victory over Wesleyan, 88-44.

After trading three-pointers to start the game, the Lady Eagles went on a dominant 17-2 run lasting nearly seven minutes. Wesleyan quickly countered with an 8-2 run to end the opening quarter. Holding a 22-15 lead going into the second, the Lady Eagles dominated the next 10 minutes unlike any other quarter this season. Outscoring the Wolves 31-4, the Lady Eagles shot 52 percent from the field and 47 percent from behind the arc. Leading the first half charge was freshman Autumn Boutwell, who set her career high in the opening half with 23 points on 7-11 shooting from three.

With a 53-19 halftime lead, the Lady Eagles controlled the remainder of the game start to finish. As a team, they shot 45 percent from the field and 33 percent from behind the arc. Boutwell led all scorers with 25 points and added 5 rebounds. Right behind her was Brooklyn Bosher with 15 points and 7 rebounds, while also picking up 2 steals. With 11 different players scoring, the Lady Eagles returned to The Nest in dominating fashion with their fifth win of the season.

Covenant College Recap:
After their win over Wesleyan, the Lady Eagles matched up once again with Covenant College. After a comeback win over the Scots on November 13, today's game began differently, with the Lady Eagles falling behind 8-4 early. But after regaining the lead just minutes later, they never relinquished it again after the 1:59 mark of the first quarter. With the score tied 11-11, the Lady Eagles scored seven straight points, taking an 18-11 lead at the end of the quarter with three consecutive buckets from Bosher, Coalson, and Moilan.

Throughout the second quarter, the teams nearly mirrored each other. Both squads made four field goals on a combined 31 attempts, and Covenant outscored the Lady Eagles 13-12. Leading the way in the second was junior forward Sky Boyd, who posted 10 points on 4-7 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds in the half, nearly earning her fifth double-double before the break. At halftime, the Lady Eagles led 30-24 in what was their lowest scoring half of the season.

After a steal by Coalson and a fastbreak layup by Ahrens, the Lady Eagles sparked a decisive 9-0 run that stretched their lead to 39-24 in just two minutes. A Covenant steal and layup briefly halted the momentum, but back-to-back buckets from Coalson and Dudek rebuilt the 17-point advantage midway through the third. Trading baskets the rest of the quarter, the Lady Eagles entered the fourth with a 53-37 lead. Covenant never cut the deficit below 11, and after two late free throws by the Scots, the Lady Eagles closed out the game with a 67-51 win.

Leading the Lady Eagles was junior Sky Boyd, who recorded her fifth double-double of the season in nine games with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Brooklyn Bosher delivered another strong performance with 17 points and 7 boards. Sophomore Amy Ahrens made her biggest impact defensively, recording a game-high 5 steals while adding 12 points and 6 rebounds.

What's Next:
The Lady Eagles return to the court on Monday against Welch College with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 PM. Riding a four-game winning streak, the Lady Eagles look for season win number seven and their fifth straight victory heading into Thanksgiving break.
