Game Preview: Lady Eagles Return Home for NCAA Division III Weekend Slate

Weekend Preview:
The Lady Eagles Basketball team returns to the Nest this weekend for a pair of NCAA Division III matchups, hosting Wesleyan College on Friday at 6:00 PM and Covenant College on Saturday at 3:00 PM.

After a demanding stretch of four straight road games and two away exhibitions, the Lady Eagles enter the weekend with a 4-3 record. One of those road victories came against Covenant, their Saturday opponent, an 85-74 win fueled by a breakout 26-point performance from Brooklyn Bosher on 69% true shooting. Sky Boyd also delivered a standout effort, recording a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Most recently, the Lady Eagles impressed with a dominant 91-60 win over the Mississippi University for Women. Sophomore guard Amy Ahrens led the way, posting 18 points on 67% true shooting while adding 9 rebounds and 4 assists. With multiple players heating up at the right time, the Lady Eagles look poised to carry that momentum into their first home games of the month.

Friday's opponent, the Wesleyan College Wolves, travel from Macon, GA. The two programs have met 18 times, with the Lady Eagles holding a commanding 15-3 series lead. Wesleyan enters the weekend at 0-2, with losses to Paine University and Trinity Baptist, while the Lady Eagles aim to push their series win total to 16.

On Saturday, the Lady Eagles welcome Covenant College. The Scots also hold an 0-2 regular-season mark, with their losses coming at the hands of PCC and Welch College, though they did secure a 71-64 exhibition win over Bob Jones. PCC's win earlier this season marks the fourth meeting between the teams and the Lady Eagles' third victory in the series. Saturday's game will also be the first time Covenant has visited the Nest since the 2011-2012 season, with all other matchups taking place on Lookout Mountain, Tennessee.
