Eagles Draw with Faith Baptist in Second Pool Play Match

Match Recap:
After a come-from-behind victory over Grace Christian last night, the Eagles returned to the field for their second pool play match of the National Tournament against Faith Baptist Bible College. Thanks to a penalty kick just before halftime, the Eagles took a 1-0 lead into the break. But with a Faith equalizer only seconds into the second half, the Tuesday night matchup ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Eagles opened the match with intensity, creating a quality scoring chance within the first thirty seconds and forcing an early save that set the tone for a commanding first half. Throughout the opening 45 minutes, the Eagles controlled possession and spent most of the half in the attacking third. Outshooting Faith 14-1 in the first half, the pressure finally broke through in the 44th minute. For the second straight night, a handball in the box gave the Eagles a penalty opportunity. And just like the night before, Samir Vieira Siqueira stepped up and buried the shot into the bottom left corner, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead just before the halftime whistle.

But immediately out of the break, the Eagles were punished for a turnover as Faith capitalized and tied the match less than thirty seconds into the second half. Now level at 1-1, Faith pushed forward with urgency, needing a win to keep their championship hopes alive. In the opening 25 minutes of the second half, Faith outshot the Eagles 5-4, applying consistent pressure. Even so, the Eagles maintained the majority of possession and continued to generate attacking chances. Outshooting Faith 11-6 in the second half, the Eagles created multiple late opportunities but were unable to find a game-winning goal, resulting in a 1-1 final score.

What's Next:
With pool play standings still undecided, the Eagles will take the field one final time in pool play on Thursday at 5:00 PM. They will face the Alice Lloyd College Eagles in the programs' first ever meeting. With two results already in hand, the Eagles will look to secure their third pool play victory and officially punch their ticket to the 2025 National Championship match.
