Eagles Lose Their Opening Game of Region Play

Game Recap:
After suffering back-to-back losses in Tennessee last weekend, the Eagles were eager to begin conference play with a Tuesday night game at Trinity Baptist College. However, the team struggled early, trailing 39-27 at halftime. Although the Eagles outscored Trinity by four points in the second half, it wasn't enough to secure the victory, as they fell 74-66 in their opening conference game.

The game began with a slow start for the Eagles, who quickly found themselves down by four points. However, Liam Gerdts put the Eagles on the board with a three-pointer from the corner. Trinity responded with a 10-2 run to extend their lead to 14-5 just six minutes into the game. The Eagles bounced back with a 9-2 run of their own, fueled by three consecutive three-pointers from Liam Gerdts, Stephen Fike, and Kaiden Pack, to narrow the deficit to 16-14.

The game remained close, with the Eagles' closest attempt to take the lead coming when Kaiden Pack hit a jumper to cut Trinity's lead to 23-26. Trinity, however, went on an 11-0 run, pushing their lead to 37-23. Brandtley Koske ended the run with a two-point jumper, but the Eagles entered halftime trailing by 12 points, 39-27.

Coming out of the break, Kaiden Pack quickly scored to get the Eagles on the board for the second half. About seven minutes into the half, Liam Gerdts scored eight consecutive points, including a three-point play, to bring the Eagles' deficit within nine, 54-45. Despite their best efforts, the Eagles couldn't fully close the gap. Brandtley Koske hit a tough layup to bring the score to 62-66 with less than two minutes left, but Trinity ultimately pulled away to secure the 74-66 win.

Kaiden Pack led the Eagles in scoring, finishing with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. Liam Gerdts contributed 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists. Stephen Fike also played well off the bench, scoring 10 points on an efficient 4-of-5 shooting from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.
