Huge Win for the Eagles in Their Home Opener

Game Recap:
After playing the first three matches of the season on the road, the Eagles touched down in Pensacola for their first home match of the season. After a few early chances, the Eagles settled into the scoring late in the first half and didn't let off the gas. When the final whistle was blown, the Eagles were winners with a 4-0 victory over Toccoa Falls.

The game started aggressively for the Eagles with a lot of pace and pressure being applied on the attacking half of the field. Just four minutes into the match, the Eagles thought they had an early goal off a Dakotah Barchus header, but the goal was taken away due to an offside penalty. Just four minutes later, freshman Jackson Clarke nearly netted his first career goal, but the shot just caught the goal post. With eight shots taken in the first 42 minutes, it was only a matter of time before one found the back of the net… in the 42nd minute just before the halftime break, senior Lourenco Goncalves scored his second goal of the season with a header from the Mateo Loyola corner kick. With this goal, the Eagles led at the half 1-0.

Seven minutes into the half, Jackson Clarke got another chance to net his first career goal… this one didn't miss! Off the cross from junior Reid Rhodes, Clarke scored on the open goal and gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Four minutes later (in the 56th minute) a near mirror image of the goal before, Reid Rhodes once again drove the end line and once again found the foot of Jackson Clarke for his second career goal and his second goal of the match. With a 3-0 lead, the Eagles continued to dominate the possession and pace of the match. Before the heavy substitutions began the Eagles scored one more goal, from a familiar face. Off the cross and deflection of Niwe Mugeni and Jackson Clarke, Lourenco Goncalves scored his third goal of the season and his second goal of the match. With the first home match of the season closing with a 4-0 victory, the Eagles won their third match of the season by their largest margin yet.

What's Next:
Thursday, the Eagles will host the Point University Skyhawks for the first time since the 2019 season. With a historical record of 1 win and 3 losses, the Eagles look to add the second win in program history over the Skyhawks and notch the fourth win of the season on their belt.
