Lady Eagles Go 1-1 in Saturday Matches

Game Recap:
Saturday was a busy day for the Lady Eagles, who remained in Gallatin, TN, to compete against Grace Christian University and the University of Cincinnati-Clermont. They kicked off the day with a 3-0 victory over Grace Christian, but after a few hours of rest, they faced a tough challenge against UC Clermont, ultimately falling 1-3 in a four-set match.
 
At 3:00 PM, the Lady Eagles faced the Grace Christian University Tigers for the first time in program history, bouncing back strongly after a disappointing match the previous Friday that saw their season-low attack percentage. This time, the Lady Eagles dominated offensively, achieving a season-high .430 attack percentage and outscoring the Tigers 75-44 in a convincing three-set sweep. Freshmen Olivia Boyd and Sydney Anderson each recorded 16 kills, leading the young squad to their 10th victory of the season.
 
After a four-hour break, the Lady Eagles took on the University of Cincinnati-Clermont in an intense match that began with a dramatic first set, ending in a 30-28 win for Clermont. Despite a tough start, Clermont pulled ahead in the second set with a 13-5 run after leading 12-10, taking a two-set lead. The Lady Eagles responded fiercely in the third set, jumping to a 10-3 lead and winning decisively at 25-12. In the fourth set, Clermont started strong with a 4-0 run, but the Lady Eagles quickly countered with a 6-0 run, leading to another nail-biting back-and-forth that went into extra points. Ultimately, Clermont clinched the match with a 26-24 victory. Throughout the match, sophomore Helen Payton recorded her second 50-assist performance of the season, while freshman Sydney Anderson led with a match-high 19 kills on 32 attempts.
 
What's Next:
Friday and Saturday, the Lady Eagles will be hosting Andrew College and Toccoa Falls (Saturday only) for a weekend of matches. Beginning with an ECI home match, the ladies will face Andrew College on Friday at 5:00 PM. Saturday, the teams will participate in a tri-match with games beginning at 10:00 AM and concluding with a 2:00 PM match.
