Lady Eagles Get Swept by Boyce College

Game Recap:
To kick off their weekend in Tennessee, the Lady Eagles faced the 7-8 Boyce College Bulldogs. Competing at a neutral site can be beneficial or detrimental based on perspective. With a home record of 4-1 and a neutral site record of 4-1, the Lady Eagles felt assured about their neutral site strategy through the season thus far. Sadly, Boyce College managed to sweep the Lady Eagles, lowering their neutral site record to 4-2 and their overall season record to 9-6.

Set number one began with a fierce back-and-forth, but Boyce surged with a 10-1 run, putting the Lady Eagles down 5-14 early on. Although the team fought back to narrow the gap to 17-21, Boyce regrouped and secured the first set 25-17 against the Lady Eagles. With six lead changes in the second set, both teams struggled to gain an advantage. However, another late rally from Boyce College left the Lady Eagles trailing two sets to none after a 25-21 defeat.

With both teams launching multiple four-point runs, set three hinged on momentum shifts and the timing of those shifts. Holding a 21-19 lead late in the set, the Lady Eagles felt the momentum was in their favor to finish the set. However, Boyce had different plans. With a final push, Boyce mounted a 6-1 run to end the match. This match marked the first time since August 31st that the Lady Eagles failed to win at least one set. Statistically, the Lady Eagles struggled offensively, posting an overall -.051 hitting percentage, marking the first time this season they were below a positive hitting percentage.

What's Next:
Tomorrow, the Lady Eagles will still be in Gallatin, TN, playing two matches. At 3:00, the Lady Eagles will face NCCAA D2 opponent Grace Christian University. With a break in between, the Lady Eagles will match up against the University of Cincinnati-Clermont for the first time in program history at 7:00 PM.
