Eagles Fall Short on the Road to Middle Georgia

Game Recap:
After a physical battle on Thursday, the Eagles drove 300 miles South to Cochran, GA to face the Middle Georgia State University Knights. After a back-and-forth opening, Middle Georgia slowly pulled away with their possession and patience. Ultimately, the Knights came out with the 3-0 win over the Eagles.

Throughout the first 16 minutes of the match, both teams were locked in and battling to see who would land the first goal. But in the 17th minute, the Knights drew first blood. Coming off an array of passes, a shot was deflected by goalkeeper Bryce Hammond. Unfortunately, that deflection landed on the foot of Adrian Molitor the Knight's striker who scored on the open goal of the Eagles. As the first half was only 10 minutes from ending, Eagles defender Chris Martinez was issued a red card from the official causing the Eagles to play the remaining 55 minutes with only ten players. Before the closing of the first half, the Knights were able to score two more goals pushing their halftime lead to 3-0.

As the second half began the Eagles were able to make a few halftime adjustments and plan for their 10v11 second half. While the Knights were able to fire off eleven shots in the second half, only one of them found the back of the net. With the final goal of the game coming in the 88th minute, the Eagles fell to the Middle Georgia State Knights 4-0 for their first loss of the 2024 season. With 5 total cards and 23 fouls given out by the official, the Eagles found themselves in yet another physical battle from start to finish. After a long, tough Thursday night game against Johnson of Tennessee, Luke Miklas, Jackson Clarke, Matias Lee, and Dakotah Barchus all played the full 90 minutes of today's game. Although the outcome of this game was not the desired one, there is much to gain and even more to learn as the Eagles continue to strive for another remarkable season.

What's Next:
Next Saturday, the Eagles will once again hit the road. This time, they'll find their way to LaGrange, GA to face the LaGrange College Panthers. With a historical record of 3-3 against the Panthers, the Eagles look to add another win to the 2024 season and the fourth win over the Panthers.
