Eagles Win Big Against Spurgeon in "The Nest"

Game Recap:
After a tough 1-2 stretch over the weekend and into the start of this week, the Eagles squared off against Spurgeon College for the first time in program history. With the Knights holding a 6-1 record for the season, the Eagles were determined to bounce back with a win. Dominating the second half, the Eagles secured a commanding 94-73 victory.

The game opened with Spurgeon College going on a 15-4 run as the Eagles struggled to find their rhythm. But the Eagles quickly responded with an 8-0 run, capped by a three-pointer from Josh Azucena, bringing the score to 23-20. The teams then exchanged baskets in a back-and-forth contest. The Eagles surged ahead, taking a 28-27 lead with five minutes remaining in the first half. After a layup by Aaron Wagner, the Eagles pushed their lead to 40-33, but the Knights rallied with a 4-0 run to narrow the margin to 40-37 at the halftime break.

The Eagles came out firing in the second half, starting with a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 47-37. As the Knights struggled to regain their momentum, the Eagles continued to dominate, pushing the lead to 54-39 after a layup from Colin Wilkerson. Spurgeon's press defense proved ineffective, as the Eagles picked it apart, leading to quick layups on the offensive end. The Eagles never relinquished control, ultimately finishing with a dominant 94-73 victory. Despite averaging 108 points per game, the Knights were held to a season-low 73 points by the Eagles.

Aaron Wagner, a former Spurgeon Knight, led the Eagles offensively with a game-high 19 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and 3 steals, shooting 9-13 from the field. Kaiden Pack added a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. In total, five Eagles scored in double figures, with 10 players contributing to the team's offensive effort and victory.
