Eagles Fall Under .500 With a Home Loss to Freed Hardeman

Game Recap:
It's been a week since the Eagles have last played, and coming into tonight's game, Eagle Nation and the ECI tournament visitors hoped for a different outcome. With constantly changing weather conditions throughout the night, the wet, slippery, and muddy field conditions certainly played a major role in tonight's match. While the teams were knotted up 1-1 at halftime, the Eagles ultimately fell short to the Lions and lost 4-1.

As the game began, the conditions made it extremely difficult for both teams to maintain control and find their footing. Freed Hardeman University struck first just four minutes in, taking an early 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later, junior Reid Rhodes responded with a goal off the freekick from Chase Hawkins. With both teams netting an early goal, the match was tied 1-1 for the final 39 minutes of the first half. As the game and changing weather continued, the physicality and aggression was turned up on both sides of the ball. As the second half opened the increased falling rain made it increasingly difficult for teams to find their footing. About 15 minutes into the second half, Freed Hardeman's striker found the back of the net, putting the Lions ahead 2-1. They followed up with two more goals in the final ten minutes of the match and ultimately proved too much for the Eagles in tonight's match. With all five of tonight's goals coming from five different players, the teams battled throughout the entire 90-minute match.

What's Next:
Next Saturday, the Eagles will host Enterprise State Community College for the first time in program history. With a current 4-5-1 record, the Eagles will use the following week to lock back in and return to the win column!
