Eagles Return to the Win Column

Game Recap:
With just over a week off, the Eagles returned to the pitch for their match with Enterprise State Community College. Netting an early goal, the Eagles got ahead early and never looked back. As the final whistle sounded, the Eagles walked away with their 5th win of the season and a 3-0 victory over the Boll Weevils.

As the first half commenced, the Eagles came out firing. With five shots in the first 12 minutes, it was only a matter of time before the ball found the back of the net… and just 12:27 into the match it did! With a free kick opportunity, Dakotah Barchus sent a shot toward the goal, off a couple of deflections senior Lourenco Goncalves came flying in with a leaping shot that found the back of the net for the Eagle's first goal of the night. As the first half ended, the Eagles held a 1-0 lead over Enterprise.

As the teams battled through the second half, the Eagles and Boll Weevils were locked in a stalemate. For the opening 30 minutes of the second half, neither team was able to score. But in the 75th minute, Dakotah Barchus put another shot on frame that was initially saved by the keeper. This time, it was the freshman Jackson Clarke who netted the putback goal to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead with just 14 minutes remaining. As the half was nearly over, the Eagles pulled away with the third and final goal of the night. Off a corner kick from Jackson Clarke, the ball found the foot of senior Giovanni Pauliello for his second goal of the season. When the final whistle blew, the Eagles left Eagle Field with a 3-0 win over Enterprise State.

What's Next:
Tuesday, the Eagles will host Belhaven University for the first time since the 2019 season. With their season record standing at 5-5-1, the Eagles look to get over .500 with their potential 6th win of the season.
