Belhaven Deals the Eagles Their Sixth Loss of the Season

Game Recap:
With the Blazers striking early just 15 minutes into the match, the Eagles were forced to play catch-up and find their way back into the game. Despite scoring a goal in the 83rd minute, the Blazers' second goal, netted in the 47th minute, ultimately sealed the Eagles' fate.
 
From the kickoff, the Blazers came out aggressively. With a 7-1 shot advantage in the first 15 minutes, it was only a matter of time before they found the back of the net. In the 15th minute, they did just that, taking an early lead that they would maintain for the rest of the match. Although the Eagles managed four shots in the first half, the Blazers outperformed them with 14 attempts.
 
Holding a 1-0 advantage heading into the second half, the Blazers aimed to keep control of the game. However, just two minutes into the half, a turnover near midfield allowed the Blazers to capitalize and extend their lead to two goals. In response, the Eagles ramped up their offense, firing off seven shots in an attempt to rally back. Finally, in the 83rd minute, freshman Louis Vincent scored off a corner kick, with assists from Mateo Loyola and Chase Hawkins. Despite a late surge from the Eagles, they couldn't find the equalizer and ultimately fell to Belhaven 2-1. However, tonight's key performance came from goalkeeper Bryce Hammond who set a new career-high with 12 saves on his 14 shots faced. 

What's Next:
Saturday, the Eagles host Dallas Christian for Senior Night. With nine graduating seniors, the Eagles look to put on a show for the crowd and return to a .500 record for the closing of the 2024 regular season.
