Lady Eagles Battle Back but Fall Short of Coastal Alabama East

Game Recap:
After winning seven of their last eight matches, the Lady Eagles returned to "The Nest" brimming with momentum and confidence. Following a sluggish start in the first two sets, they regrouped and claimed a commanding victory in the third set. However, after a fierce contest in set four, the Lady Eagles ultimately lost the final set 25-27 to the Coastal Alabama Coyotes.

The match began with a tight back-and-forth in set one. A mid-set surge by the Coyotes, featuring a 4-0 run, put the Lady Eagles in a 14-8 hole, from which they couldn't recover, dropping the first set 25-19. The second set mirrored the first; the Coyotes seized a 20-12 lead after another 4-0 run. The Lady Eagles responded with a 5-0 run, narrowing the gap to 21-18. Unfortunately, the Coyotes countered with a swift 4-0 run to take the second set 25-18. Fueled by urgency, the Lady Eagles came out strong in the third set, starting with a 6-0 run to establish an early lead. They later extended their advantage with a 10-0 run, though the Coyotes mounted a challenge with a 9-1 run. Nonetheless, the Lady Eagles held on to win set three 25-18.

The match escalated in the fourth set. Both teams fought hard, with neither leading by more than three points throughout. The Lady Eagles managed to gain the largest lead of the match at 23-20. However, thanks to four kills in the final seven points, the Coyotes rallied back and clinched the fourth set 27-25. Offensively, freshman Sydney Anderson led the Lady Eagles with a game-high 15 kills, while sophomore Helen Payton topped the assists chart with 46. Defensively, libero Hope Brooks matched the game-high with 15 digs, and Megan Kinsey led the match with four total blocks (two solo and two assisted).
