The 2021–2022 Eagles athletic season came to an official close at the Eagles Awards Brunch. Student-athletes, coaches, and administration came together to acknowledge each team's accomplishments. The banquet began with Athletic Director (AD) Calley remembering the new beginning of the seasons and the several first-time achievements.
"Your pursuit of excellence enabled our program to witness a couple of firsts," AD Calley said. "Our volleyball team broke BJU's four-year South Region Championship streak to make the NCCAA National Tournament and advance to final four for the first time in program history. A more recent first is the women's basketball team capturing the program's first NCCAA DII National Title."
The Eagles' pursuit of excellence could not be properly acknowledged without recognizing the number of athletes and coaches who earned honors on and off the court or field. This year, the athletic program had the record number of eight NCCAA Scholar-Athletes. In addition to academic achievements, all teams combined for a total of fourteen All-Region awards, one South Region Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, three All-American awards, three National All-Tournament Team members including one Tournament Most outstanding player, one AVCA honor, and one National Player of the Year and Coach of the Year award.
To close his opening remarks, AD Calley challenged the student-athletes to reflect on the characteristics required to achieve excellence. "Don't just reflect on them," he said, "continue to develop each trait so that you can accomplish greater things next season and in service to our Savior."
After AD Calley recapped the athletic year, the awards presentation began.

After each coach presented their team awards, AD Calley presented the highest honor given in PCC athletics, the Eagle Award. This award goes beyond the playing surface and looks at the person—what embodies a PCC Eagle. The award recipient is consistent in the classroom and on the field, with attitudes and actions that exemplify Pensacola Christian College, and the Eagle Way. Senior women's basketball player
Sandy McElhaney became the 35th recipient.
This season's pursuit of excellence has officially ended, but the goals for next season are being set and each athlete is striving to become greater.
