MSOC Season Recap: The Road to the Crown

Season Recap:
The Pensacola Christian College Eagles authored one of the most memorable seasons in recent program history, blending early momentum, midseason adversity, and a dominant postseason run that culminated in the program being crowned NCCAA Division II National Champions. The Eagles finished the campaign with an 11-5-6 overall record, navigating a demanding schedule while showcasing resilience, depth, and collective belief.

PCC opened the season with confidence, going unbeaten through its first four matches and securing two early victories. A hard-fought 1-1 draw against LaGrange College, a strong NCAA Division III opponent, highlighted the Eagles' ability to compete beyond their association. That result was followed by a decisive 6-0 victory over Carolina Christian College, a performance that displayed Pensacola's offensive depth and foreshadowed the attacking production that would emerge throughout the year.

The heart of the schedule soon tested the Eagles' resolve. A challenging stretch featured two losses, a draw, and another defeat against quality opposition. Rather than splinter, the group responded with grit and unity. A defining road trip to Georgia marked the turning point, beginning with a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Brewton-Parker College. PCC followed that performance with a pivotal 4-2 victory at Toccoa Falls College, a matchup that would evolve into a season-long rivalry. Those back-to-back comeback wins reignited the Eagles' momentum and reinforced their belief when adversity struck.

After a draw against United States Sports University, the Eagles found renewed form on both sides of the ball, posting consecutive 1-0 victories over Huntingdon College and Freed-Hardeman University. Those tight defensive battles reflected PCC's tactical growth and discipline as the regular season progressed. The Eagles closed the regular season with a mix of results, highlighted by a dominant 6-1 win over Trinity College that reaffirmed the team's attacking firepower.

Individually, the Eagles were led by a balanced and dynamic group of contributors. Jackson Clarke paced the offense with nine goals and four assists, consistently creating problems for opposing defenses with his finishing and movement. Odanci Ndayisaba followed closely with eight goals and three assists, combining creativity and aggression in key moments. Samir Vieira Siqueira and Boaz Da Silva provided steady production and versatility, while Justin Loveland, Eric Romero, and Angel Pietri-Garcia added timely goals and spark plays throughout the campaign.

In goal, PCC relied on a dependable tandem. Nathaniel Hixson appeared in twelve matches, totaling 62 saves with a 1.18 goals-against average, delivering timely stops and steady leadership. Bryce Hammond also appeared in twelve contests, recording 44 saves with a 1.82 GAA and providing consistent performances when called upon. While Hixson emerged as the primary option late in the season, both keepers played vital roles in the Eagles' success.

The Eagles' postseason began at the NCCAA South Region Tournament, where they once again faced Toccoa Falls College. After battling to a dramatic 2-2 draw, the semifinal advanced to penalty kicks, where PCC was narrowly eliminated. Despite the setback, the Eagles' strong body of work earned them an at-large bid to the NCCAA National Tournament.

At Nationals, PCC opened pool play with a 2-1 victory over sixth-seeded Grace Christian University, setting a confident tone. The Eagles followed with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against seventh-ranked Faith Baptist Bible College in a disciplined, physical matchup. Needing a statement performance in the final pool match, PCC delivered emphatically, erupting for an 8-2 win over second-seeded Alice Lloyd College. Jackson Clarke recorded a hat trick, while goals from Reid Rhodes, Samir Vieira Siqueira, Colin Elms, Devin Woods, and Odanci Ndayisaba powered the Eagles to the top of the pool and into the National Championship match.

The title match brought the season full circle with a third meeting against Toccoa Falls College. PCC delivered its most complete performance of the year in a commanding 3-0 victory. After an early injury forced a lineup change, Chris Martinez came off the bench and scored the opening goal with a bicycle kick off an assist from Ndayisaba. Less than three minutes into the second half, Ndayisaba added a composed finish to double the lead. Hixson anchored the defense with seven saves to preserve the clean sheet, and late in the match, a long pass from Clarke set up Justin Loveland to seal the championship.

The championship run was accompanied by major individual honors. Boaz Da Silva was named the 2025 NCCAA Division II Men's Soccer Player of the Year, recognizing his leadership and excellence from the back line. Jackson Clarke earned First Team All-American honors, while Samir Vieira Siqueira was named the National Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

The 2025 season was defined by growth, resilience, and ultimate triumph. From early confidence-building results to midseason challenges and a championship postseason run, the Eagles captured the program's fourth national title and second in the last three seasons. With impactful contributions across the roster, PCC concludes the year with momentum and expectations firmly set for continued success.
