The Eagles defeated Southeastern Baptist College 74-64 in a memorable game on Senior Night.
On the Eagles' first offensive trip down the floor, No. 10 John Clay hit a three to give the Eagles an early lead. The Chargers quickly overtook that lead with the aid of a pair of quick layups. The Eagles trailed until around seven minutes into the first half, when No. 25 Noah Rawlings found No. 34 AJ Ward wide open in the corner for a 3-pointer, giving PCC a one-point-lead. The Eagles and the Chargers continued to trade leads before getting knotted up at 17 apiece. The Eagles refused to let the Chargers pull ahead in the ensuing minutes, never letting them get ahead by more than 3 before tying the score again. During this back-and-forth stretch, both teams played fantastic defense and created multiple steals. One such steal by Southeastern resulted in an opportunity for No. 12 Naquadric McGruder to score on a breakaway layup, but No. 41 Deric Woods tracked him down and batted the ball away just in time. Later in the half, down by 5 with less than four minutes left in the first, the Eagles showed great passing, resulting in No. 5 Austin Lewis being left wide-open to sink a deep three and bring it back to a 2 point game. With 1:17 left in the half, the Chargers' No. 3 Tarrance David hit a 3-pointer to give his team a 5-point lead headed into halftime.
The Eagles played spectacular basketball on both offense and defense at the start of the second half, going on a 15-0 run in the first five minutes to take a 10-point lead. After more than five scoreless minutes, the Chargers finally got a basket to get their offense rolling again, and began to chip away at the Eagles' lead. Then Clay found No. 21 Dakota Pratt open under the basket on a baseline inbound pass, which Pratt proceeded to bank in for 2 points. With that shot, Pratt broke 1,000 career points with the Eagles. The crowd went wild and began chanting "Coty" to show their gratitude to a great player for such an incredible achievement. The team didn't have much time to celebrate Pratt's milestone record because the game was far from over. The Chargers were starting to heat up from the three-point line and had soon shrunk the Eagles' lead to just one point with twelve minutes still left to play. Aided by a pair of turnovers by the Chargers, the Eagles were able to put together a 10-2 scoring run, to pull ahead again by 9. But the Chargers were able to put together a run of their own due to a number of turnovers by the Eagles, cutting the Eagles lead back down to one point again. Over the next two minutes, both Lewis and Pratt had a steal each, helping the Eagles extend their lead up to 5 with less than three minutes left to play. At this time, Coach Goetsch called a timeout to ensure that his team would be properly prepared for the final minutes of what had been a thrilling game. In an attempt to make a quick comeback, the Chargers attempted a trio of threes and missed them all, which allowed the Eagles to put up another few points to make it an 8-point lead with a minute left. The visitors opted not to play the "foul game," and the Eagles successfully prevented them from scoring in the final minutes to end an exciting game with a 74-64 win.
