The PCC Eagles soccer team picked up a huge win in the much anticipated match-up against rival Bob Jones University on Saturday night.  Thousands of energized fans packed out Eagle Field to support the Eagles in the win over the visiting Bruins, final score 2-1.
 
Coach Liwosz knew going into this game that it was going to be a battle.  "When it comes to this game each year the records don't matter.  This is one of the most crucial games we play every season. "
 
From the start, both teams battled trying to establish their own pace of play for the game. With just seven minutes remaining in the half, the Eagles came through with a goal as Jonathan Mendez scored to make it 1-0. The Bruins quickly countered, as David Dume netted a goal just minutes later, leaving the score 1-1 as the halftime buzzer sounded.
 
As the second half began the Eagles came out determined to get the W for their fans! With just under fifteen minutes remaining, the Eagles rallied together as Nick Standridge gathered a deflected ball from the Bruins goalie, Standridge was able to center the ball to the middle as Jake McClelland was there to finish off the goal. The Eagles took the lead 2-1.  The Bruins tried to counter in the last few minutes but the Eagles' defense held strong.
 
Final thoughts from the Coach: "Our guys came out with a lot of energy and Bob Jones did well matching us for good portions of the game. We missed some good chances but were able to put in the key goals when we needed to. Our guys kept the intensity and heart for 90 minutes which ultimately earned us the win."
