Eagles Win Over Johnson University of Florida

Eagles Win Another Regional Game at Home

The Eagles Soccer team took to Eagle Field again tonight against Johnson University of Florida. The Eagles were able to push through the Suns defense and pulled out another regional win in front of their home crowd.

In the first half the Eagles struggled to navigate through the Suns defense as they packed it into the box. Coach Liwosz expected this team to come out fighting defensively, "We knew they would come out prepared after playing us two weeks ago.  They did very well staying compact defensively and catching us out very early on a counter attack."

The Suns were able to get the first goal of the game mid-way of the first half. #1 Steven Thompson scored for the Suns off of an assist from #8 Gustavo Tonato. With a little over 12 minutes left in the half the Eagles were able to counter back as #1 Jake McClelland scored off an assist from #8 Paul Stewart. Leaving the score tied 1-1 going into halftime.

As the second half was on its way, so were the Eagles as #9 Riley Buchalski received a pass from #1 Jake McClelland and was able to put the ball in the net pulling his team ahead 2-1. The Eagles didn't stop there! With 10 minutes left in the game the Eagles secured their win with another goal from #12 Nick Standridge! The buzzer sounded and our Eagles left the field tonight with a Conference win of 3-1.

Final thoughts from the Coach: "Our guys did a great job staying disciplined and mentally focused after conceding the first goal.  We came back very strong and focused and eventually broke down their defense.  We were patient in the second half, creating many attacks and shots on goal.  From our consistent pressure we were able to put in two more goals to finish off the game."
