Pensacola, FL — The Lady Eagles scored an all-time record 98 points in their 98-47 victory over Judson College on Thursday night in Marion, AL. Juniors
Jessica Boyd and
Joy Smith teamed up to score 33 of the Lady Eagles 98 points. The victory extended the team's winning streak to seven games and strengthened their overall record to 16-10 on the season.
"We are shooting better shots and making better decisions," Head Coach
Jared Sellars said after his team's historic night. "The pace and flow have been a lot better for us over the last few games!"
The Lady Eagles got off to a fast start in last night's ball game.
Jessica Boyd buried a three-pointer from the corner while
Marlee Moore and
Lauren Battle each added layups to stretch the Lady Eagles early advantage to 7-0. Judson College answered back with three-pointers of their own by Madison Casale and Libby Whitten. The Lady Eagles ended the quarter on a 6-0 run to stretch their lead to 18-9.
Junior guard
Joy Smith took over for the Lady Eagles in the 2nd quarter. She scored nine of her game high 17 points in the period. Behind the play of
Joy Smith, the Lady Eagles extended their lead to 14 points midway through the quarter. Judson College guard Madison Casale helped keep her team in it with 13 points on 5-6 shooting and 3-3 shooting from behind the three-point arch. Despite the best efforts of Judson College, the Lady Eagles headed into the half leading 40-28.
"I felt like we played pretty well in the 1
st half." Coach
Jared Sellars continued, "We made a few adjustments at halftime in order to come in more focused in the 2nd half."
In the 3rd quarter of action,
Haley Sailors would step up for the Lady Eagles. She went on to score eight of her 10 points in the 3rd quarter.

Lauren Battle all hit three-pointers in the 3rd quarter. The Lady Eagles road their hot shooting to a season-high 32-point 3rd quarter performance and stretched their 12-point halftime lead to 33 points after of three quarters of play.
Heading into the 4th quarter, the Lady Eagles continued to make their shots. The team would go 12-19 from the floor in the final quarter of the ball game. The Lady Eagles would go on to finish the ball game with an all-time record 98 points. The team shot 44% from the floor and 30% from behind the three-point line in this historic victory.
"The 3rd quarter was when things really came together for us," Head Coach
Jared Sellars said. "We made 6 three-pointers in the quarter and made some great decisions on offense. We need to continue to improve our offensive flow and defensive intensity, but I'm glad we were able to take care of business!"
Joy Smith led the Lady Eagles with 17 points while
Jessica Boyd finished the game with her second-consecutive double-double, scoring 16 points and adding 11 rebounds. The Lady Eagles next game will be on Saturday, February 17 against Toccoa Falls College in the Arlin R. Horton Sports Center Arena. The Lady Eagles will recognize their only senior
Lauren Battle at the start of the game.
