PENSACOLA, Florida–Our Lady Eagles Basketball team earned their first conference victory over Trinity College of Florida by a score of 79-54 in a rematch of last year's NCCAA South Region Championship game.

Freshman Sandy McElhaney scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Lady Eagles in scoring. Three Lady Eagles finished with double-digit scoring outputs–McElhaney (20), Smith (14), and Boyd (12). Joy Smith led the team with five steals and six assists while Jessica Boyd snatched a team leading nine rebounds.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early 19-3 advantage behind the hot shooting of their guards. The team never looked back in the contest against Trinity College of Florida. At the end of the 1st quarter, the Lady Eagles led Trinity College 25-13.

The team struggled to score the ball consistently in the 2nd quarter of action, but still went on to carry a 37-19 lead into the half. The Lady Eagles shot 9/23 (39%) from the floor and a scorching hot 5-13 (38%) from behind the three-point arch.

In the 2nd half, the Lady Eagles emptied the bench. The team's bench scored 28 points in the contest, highlighted by the play of Elise Cauthen who finished with 8 points. The team went on to secure a 79-54 victory over Trinity College of Florida.

"We had a really great first quarter tonight!" Head Coach Jared Sellars continued after the game, "Coming off last night's game, we wanted to have a good showing and the team really performed."

The victory got the Lady Eagles over .500 (4-3 on the season). The team will look to improve to 5-3 on the season when they take on Judson College tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at home.
