PENSACOLA, Florida–Our Eagles Basketball shot a season-low nine shots from behind the three-point arch in tonight's 90-57 loss to the University of Mobile Rams on the road.
Ian Johnson led the Eagles in scoring for the 3rd consecutive game, finishing with 16 points to go along with nine rebounds.
Dakota Pratt added a team high 10 rebounds while
Tyler Rose and
Jared McCrillis tied for the lead with three assists apiece.
Our Eagles hung with the University of Mobile Rams throughout the opening minutes of tonight's non-conference road matchup. The two teams exchanged baskets throughout the 1st half of basketball, but the Rams pulled away late behind the play of Darius Curry and Tony-Toni Wright who finished the game with a combined 25 points. At the half, the Rams led the Eagles 41-31.
The Eagles hoped to rally in the 2nd half, but those hopes proved to be short lived. Back-to-back buckets by
Ian Johnson cut the Rams lead to just eight points with 16:47 left in the contest, but that would be the closest the Eagles got. The Rams quickly widened their lead with baskets in the paint, finishing with 58 points inside the paint on the evening. The Eagles were unable to find the three-ball in this contest and went on to fall 90-57 to the Rams.
"We just didn't shoot the ball from behind the three-point arch tonight." Head Coach
Mark Goetsch said afterwards, "We need our shooters to step up and take the open looks when they have them."
The loss gives the Eagles six consecutive losses, all coming against non-conference opponents. The team will take the court next on Thursday at home when they take on NCAA DII Spring Hill College.
