Lady Eagles Capture 20th Win in 66-64 Rivalry Victory

Game Recap:
After a tough loss in Tennessee last week and the Lady Eagles having a home game canceled due to forfeit, Bob Jones was the next team to enter The Nest. After a strong performance through the first 35 minutes, the Lady Eagles went scoreless over the final five minutes but were able to hold off the Lady Bruins in a narrow 66-64 victory.

To open the game, Bosher hit a jumper on the Lady Eagles' first possession to set the tone early. Responding with an 8-3 run, BJU gained an early advantage, but a layup byBoyd, a three-pointer by Boutwell, and additional buckets from Boyd and Bosher helped the Lady Eagles regain a seven-point lead. That lead remained intact until midway through the second quarter. In a strong opening quarter, the Lady Eagles shot an efficient 10-16 from the field, with Bosher leading the way with 11 points and Ahrens adding seven. The duo combined to shoot a perfect 7-7 from the floor in the first quarter.

After a slow start to the second quarter, Bosher hit her second three-pointer of the night to keep the Lady Eagles ahead 30-26 with 6:02 remaining in the half. Back-to-back buckets from the Lady Bruins gave them the lead, which they held until the final two minutes. With two minutes left, Bosher went 2-2 from the free-throw line to tie the game at 34-34. With the score knotted up at halftime, Bosher led all scorers with 18 points on 6-10 shooting.

As the second half opened, the Lady Bruins went on an 8-2 run to take a 42-36 lead in the first three minutes of the third quarter. Needing a momentum shift, the Lady Eagles found it midway through the period. A layup by Amy Ahrens, assisted by Coalson, sparked an incredible 20-4 run that lasted the remainder of the quarter. Fueled by Ahrens' 8 points during the stretch, the Lady Eagles went on both an offensive and defensive tear, shooting 70% from the field and recording 4 steals in the final seven minutes of the third quarter. With additional contributions from Boutwell, Moilan, Bosher, and Adams, the Lady Eagles closed the quarter strong and carried a 10-point advantage into the final frame.

To begin the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles surrendered a quick and-one but answered with a Bosher three-pointer, assisted by Coalson, to maintain a 59-49 advantage. Through the first five minutes, the teams were even at 10-10 in scoring, with the Lady Eagles doing most of their damage at the free-throw line, going 6-7. However, after a layup by Boyd, assisted by Coalson, the Lady Eagles were held scoreless for the final five minutes of the game.

BJU responded with a 10-0 run, and after a made three-pointer by the Bruins, the Lady Eagles' lead was trimmed to 66-64 with 0:44 remaining. A late turnover gave BJU an opportunity to win the game at the buzzer, but the Bruins' three-point attempt rimmed out as time expired. The Lady Eagles gritted out a hard-fought 66-64 victory over rival Bob Jones University.

Leading the Lady Eagles was the team's leading scorer, Brooklyn Bosher, who recorded 25 points and 6 rebounds in 33 minutes. Sophomore Amy Ahrens turned in a phenomenal performance with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals in a season-high 32 minutes. Off the bench, Autumn Boutwell knocked down three three-pointers and totaled 11 points on 4-8 shooting.
