Lady Eagles Split Final Regular-Season Matches, Sweep Andrew College

The Lady Eagles closed the regular season with a split, falling to Clinton in four sets before bouncing back with a sweep of Andrew College. The victory over the Tigers secured PCC's 18th win of the season as the Lady Eagles now turn their attention to defending their South Region title.\

Clinton Recap:
The Lady Eagles opened the match with back-to-back kills from Whitson and Metzker, but Clinton answered with a 5-0 run to take a 7-4 lead. PCC responded with a 7-2 run of its own, turning the three-point deficit into a two-point advantage.

The teams continued to trade points until the opening set was tied at 22-22. A Clinton attacking error put the Lady Eagles in front before senior Lyssie Metzker delivered back-to-back kills to secure the 25-22 victory.

The second set proved more difficult for PCC. Clinton built a commanding 19-4 lead, and although the Lady Eagles added a few late points, they dropped the set 25-10.

PCC stayed within striking distance early in the third set, trailing 9-8 before Clinton scored five of the next six points to extend its advantage to 14-9. The Lady Eagles battled back to tie the set at 21-21, but Clinton claimed four of the final five points to win 25-22 and take a 2-1 match lead.

The fourth set opened with another closely contested stretch as the teams worked to a 7-7 tie. Clinton then used a 7-0 run to create separation. Later trailing 23-16, the Lady Eagles refused to go quietly, scoring five straight points to pull within two. Clinton held off the comeback, however, handing PCC its seventh loss of the regular season.

Andrew Recap:
With less than an hour between matches, the Lady Eagles regrouped to face a familiar opponent in the Andrew College Tigers. PCC entered having swept all six meetings between the teams over the previous three seasons and continued that success with another straight-set victory.

The opening set was closely contested through the first 23 points, with the Lady Eagles holding a narrow 12-11 lead. An Andrew service error and two kills from Madisyn Kandel helped spark a 13-5 closing run as PCC pulled away for a 25-16 win.

The second set began similarly, but this time Andrew held the early 12-11 advantage. Neither team led by more than three points throughout the set, and Whitson and Metzker combined for six kills among PCC's final 11 points. With the score tied at 19-19, the Lady Eagles won six of the final nine points to claim the set 25-22.

The teams remained close early in the third set before PCC took control with a dominant 9-1 run, building a 22-11 lead. The Lady Eagles finished off the set 25-14 to complete the sweep and close the regular season with an 18-7 record.

What's Next
The Lady Eagles will travel to Greenville, South Carolina, next weekend to compete in the 2026 South Region Championship. With final seeding still to be determined, PCC is expected to enter as the No. 2 seed as it looks to defend its 2025 South Region title.
