Eagles Fall in Greenville to Bob Jones University

Game Recap
After earning a road win in Greenville last season, the Eagles returned to the Davis Field House for a rematch against Bob Jones University. Coming off three games in five days, the Eagles were tested early and never fully recovered from a slow start, ultimately falling to the Bruins, 88–71.

The Bruins opened the game on a 15–2 run, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the field in the first five minutes. Once settled, the Eagles began to respond. A pair of free throws from Blaise Conlon sparked a stretch that included buckets from Paul Stickles and Kaiden Pack, trimming the deficit to 11. Moments later, another Conlon free throw cut the margin to six after the Eagles had trailed by as many as 13 just two minutes earlier. Midway through the half, a quick 5–0 run fueled by back-to-back buckets from Liam Gerdts brought the Eagles within one possession. As both teams traded baskets, the deficit hovered between five and seven points. A Conlon three late in the half pulled the Eagles within three, but back-to-back baskets by BJU pushed the lead back to nine heading into the break, with the Eagles trailing 40–31.

The teams exchanged points through the opening five minutes of the second half, with scoring contributions from Azucena, Pack, Bertinato, and Deric Woods cutting the deficit to seven at the 14:30 mark. However, the Bruins responded with an 11–2 run over the next 70 seconds to regain a 16-point advantage. Gerdts answered with five straight points, and the Eagles later narrowed the gap to 11 with seven points from the free-throw line, but they were unable to bring the margin into single digits as time expired. After a grueling 40-minute battle, the Eagles came up short by a final score of 71-88.

Gerdts led the Eagles with 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in 35 minutes of action. Pack added 12 points and 5  rebounds in a season-low 25 minutes. Bertinato and Conlon rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points apiece, combining for 13 rebounds while shooting an efficient 7-for-16 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line.
