Lady Eagles Soar to Fifth Straight Sweep, Improve to 10-4

Match Recap:
Riding their momentum from the weekend, the Lady Eagles come into their Tuesday night matchup against the Coyotes. The Lady Eagles were flying high on a four-match win streak, with all four victories coming by way of a three-set sweep. Tonight's match was no different. With a dominant hand over the contest, the Lady Eagles once again controlled the action and took all three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-20, defeating their fifth opponent in a row by sweep.

To open the first set, the Lady Eagles dominated from the very first serve, starting with a Madisyn Kandel kill that sparked an 11-4 run. With Metzker and Anderson adding three kills apiece throughout the stretch, the Lady Eagles firmly controlled set one, recording 14 kills and 2 service aces on their way to a 25-19 opening-set victory.

As the teams switched sides, the Lady Eagles came into set two a little flat, falling behind early and trailing 7-9. However, they quickly regrouped, going on a 9-4 run led by Anderson and Stephens, who combined for 5 kills to help regain a 16-13 advantage. The team closed out the second set behind the steady play of Sydney Anderson, who recorded 7 kills in the frame to push the Lady Eagles to a 25-20 win.

In the final set, the Coyotes again battled their way to an early 10-8 lead. But the Lady Eagles' grit and determination once again shone through as they went on an absolute tear, scoring 14 of the next 15 points. During the run, Anderson tallied 3 kills, Whiting 2, Ruryk 2, and Kandel 1. Despite a late push from Coastal, the Lady Eagles sealed the match with an Allie Whiting kill, closing the set 25-20 and securing the 3-0 sweep.

This victory not only propels the Lady Eagles to their best record (10-4) through the first 14 matches of a season since 2002 (11-3), but it also marks their fifth consecutive sweep. Over the last two weeks, the Lady Eagles' dominance over NAIA, NCCAA D1, and NJCAA opponents has been fueled by a focused, gritty, and determined roster.

What's Next:
This weekend, the Lady Eagles head to Gallatin, TN, to match up in a NCCAA Mideast tri-match with Welch College and Boyce College. Rematching Boyce College after their 1-3 loss at the National Tournament last season, the Lady Eagles look to get back and defeat Boyce College for the first time in program history. With a historical record of 8-1 against Welch, the team looks to add win number nine against the Lady Flames and wins #11 & #12 to their 2025 season!
