Eagles Battle to 1-1 Draw at Millsaps

Match Recap:
After suffering their first loss of the season to Point University last weekend, the Eagles looked to bounce back on the road against Millsaps College. Coming into the night, the two programs had met only twice, splitting those contests 1-1. After 90 minutes of hard-fought soccer, the record now stands at 1-1-1, as the Eagles and Majors battled to a 1-1 draw.

The match started with both teams pushing for quick counterattacks. Millsaps struck first, capitalizing on a long ball in the seventh minute and rifling a shot into the top corner to take an early 1-0 lead. Forced to play from behind, the Eagles responded quickly. Just five minutes later, sophomore Jackson Clarke dropped a pass to Samir Vieira Siqueira, who fired a shot that deflected off a Majors defender and found the back of the net. The goal marked Vieira Siqueira's third of the season and leveled the score at 1-1. The remainder of the first half saw Millsaps controlling more possession, but the Eagles' defense held strong, sending the match into halftime still tied.

Both sides ramped up the intensity in the second half, trading chances in search of a game-winner. The Eagles nearly pulled ahead in the 68th minute when senior Reid Rhodes's attempt sailed just wide. Millsaps created the bulk of opportunities, recording eight shots in the second frame, six of which were on target. Graduate goalkeeper Bryce Hammond was stellar between the posts, collecting six saves to keep the Majors at bay.

In the closing minutes, Millsaps made a hard, final push to claim victory on their home field, but the Eagles' discipline and composure denied them the breakthrough. When the final whistle sounded, the scoreboard remained even at 1-1.

What's Next:
The Eagles will remain in Jackson, MS for another match this coming Saturday. The Eagles match up with Bellhaven University who's record currently stands at 2-1-1. With a historical record of 0-2 against the Blazers, the Eagles look to put win #1 in the Belhaven win column.
