Eagles Fall to Toccoa Falls in the Region Semi-Final

Game Recap:
After finishing the regular season with three wins in their final four games, the Eagles entered their Regional Semifinal with confidence and high expectations. Having split their regular-season matchups with Toccoa Falls College, the stage was set for another intense showdown—this time with a spot in the Regional Championship on the line. In a game that featured 13 lead changes and no lead greater than 7 points, it was the most tightly contested battle of the season on the biggest stage of the season. Unfortunately, the Eagles fell just short, dropping a hard-fought 65-70 loss to Toccoa Falls.

Coming out strong, both teams exchanged baskets early, setting the tone for a fast-paced and competitive matchup. A steal by Kaiden Pack led to an Aaron Wagner layup, bringing the score to 6-4, where it remained stagnant for four minutes. With both teams ranked #1 and #2 nationally in opponent FG%, defense took center stage in tonight's showdown. The scoring drought was finally broken by a three-pointer from Kaiden Pack, only for Toccoa to respond immediately with a basket of their own. As the half progressed, neither team could pull away. In the final minute of the half, a free throw by Paul Stickles gave the Eagles their largest lead of the night at seven points. When the halftime buzzer sounded, the Eagles held a 34-28 advantage over TFC with 20 minutes left to play.

Coming out of the break, Toccoa wasted no time, opening with a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to two. However, a layup by the Eagles' leading scorer, Kaiden Pack, extended their lead back to four. Momentum swung back and forth, with Toccoa briefly taking the lead just under the 16-minute mark, only for the Eagles to reclaim it on the following possession. As the half wore on, fouls and free throws became the defining factor. With 21 fouls called in the second half, Toccoa capitalized, getting to the line and shooting 22 free throws compared to the Eagles' mere 6 attempts. As the clock dipped under three minutes, TFC tied the game at 60-60. In the closing moments, Toccoa made the most of their opportunities, going 8-10 from the FT line, while the Eagles struggled to find their rhythm, shooting just 2-6 from the field and 1-2 from the stripe. A late 10-5 run by Toccoa sealed the game, and as the final buzzer echoed, the Eagles fell 65-70 in their last game of the season.

Leading the charge for the Eagles, Kaiden Pack finished with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Liam Gerdts wrapped up his season with an efficient 13-point, 10-rebound double-double, shooting 4-8 from the field and a perfect 4-4 from the FT line—marking his seventh double-double of his junior year.
