Game Recap:
The Eagles men's basketball team fell in a hard-fought battle Friday night, dropping their matchup against NCCAA opponent Champion Christian College 74-61 in front of an energized home crowd. The Tigers brought athleticism and discipline to the floor, proving to be a tough matchup for the Eagles as they looked to build early-season momentum in the Nest.
 

The starting five stayed consistent from Tuesday's win over Baptist University of Florida, with only three players coming off the bench for minutes. From the opening tip, the first half was a back-and-forth grind. Neither side built more than a five-point cushion, and both traded baskets in a fast-paced stretch of layups, mid-range jumpers, and defensive stops. With just 20 seconds left before the break, Kaiden Pack knocked down a clutch jumper to give the Eagles a one-point lead at halftime.
 

Coming out of the break, the pace only intensified. In the first minute alone, possession changed hands six times, setting the tone for a scrappy, high-energy second half. The Eagles battled to stay within striking distance, hustling for loose balls and forcing key turnovers. Goodnews Akonofua gave the team a spark off the bench, racking up three rebounds and two blocks in just eight minutes of play. Despite the fight, the Tigers managed to build a ten-point advantage late in the half and held it through the final buzzer. Josh Azucena turned in a standout performance for the Eagles, finishing with 24 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in a commanding all-around effort.
